New Project!

So Ryan does work for this Wine company here in Dallas and they offer a service where you can brew your own wine. Well actually you go in choose a flavor and they brew and bottle it for you, then you design the label and what not. Well we thought that was just awesome and totally wanted to create our own wine. So hw called them up to get all the details, prices and stuff. Well he then calls me and informs me that they charge $400 for 30 bottles of wine. Needless to say that dashed our hopes of having out own wine. Well Ryan was talking to his friend Damon, who brews his own beer, and he said that we could get everything we need at the homebrew store and make our own wine for under $200. So thats what we decided to do, we ventured out to the brew store yesterday and picked up a whole slew of items, everything but bottles actually. So we took it home and we are well on our way to having a tasty Italian Pinot Grigio...hopefully. I was reading the directions before we got started and there were an awful lot of steps, but not just steps, like very very specific steps that if just one of them fails the whole batch is ruined. So I am actually really really nervous but fingers crossed it works out ha ha or we are out $160. According to the directions it takes about a month just for it to be ready to be bottled, then it has to "age" for about another 3 months or so. Its all very exciting, Ive always wanted to brew my own wine, well actually I have always wanted a vinyard of my very own with my own label of wine and a resturant...but baby steps. But I will keep you posted on the whole process cause in 5-7 days we have to check the "gravity" of the liquid and if its where it needs to be we have to transfer it to the Fermentor. Ahh im so excited I hope we don't screw it up ha ha.
